Terpene Profile

Skunk.

ripe skunk · sweaty street · wet pavement

Real skunk is a smell, not a metaphor. The Skunk #1 line Sam Selezny stabilized in California from 1976 to 1978 produced the unmistakable ripe-skunk note that defined what cannabis smelled like for the next thirty years. Most catalog "Skunk" today is a much softer version of the original.

The vocabulary

Ripe skunk

The actual skunk-spray comparison. Pungent, oily, lingering.

Sweaty street

A NYC subway-platform-in-August adjective some growers use. Accurate.

Wet pavement

Skunk plus rain. Cheese phenotypes do this.

How skunk got here

Skunk #1 crossed to Amsterdam in 1982. The Cheese cut (UK, 1988) is the most skunk-forward expression that survived the trip. Modern "Skunk" lines have mostly been bred for milder expression. We work from older seed stock.
